Airsoft Gas Pistol Repairing

Are you sitting on a pile of broken airsoft pistols? Have you been searching the interwebs for airsoft pistol repairing information? Some friends of ours have started putting together a DIY gas pistol repair help website. The website, Airsoft Pistol Repair features owner manuals, repair guides, and replacement pistol parts diagrams for many popular air soft gas pistol models.

The site is still under construction but we found several popular pistol manuals already listed with some nice replacement parts diagrams and lots of troubleshooting and maintenance information. The repairmen who are providing this information for free, said they will be adding more DIY repair manuals plus; plan on adding video repair tutorials for many more gas pistol models.

Gas airsoft pistol preventative maintenance is covered extensively in the step by step pistol repair guides.
One problem with trying to get pistol repair parts is matching the airsoft gun manufacturers item number with the airsoft repair parts retailer number as the part names are not always listed in the owners manuals. The parts diagrams here are clearly listed in a easy flip through library book format. Must say the site is a bit slow and information seems to be updating, moving and changing often but the site is scheduled to be fully updated in early 2014.

So if you find yourself searching this season for some help with a gas airsoft pistol repair problem, check out this site, they can most likely help.
 Airsoft Pistol Repair Help
We will be updating our repair parts catalogs for 2014. Already you can visit the airsoft gun repair parts catalog pages and find many new air soft parts and models have already been added. The electric airsoft gun parts catalogs have had many additions and upgrades in 2013 and will be transforming again in 2014. I have been logging many repair articles and will be posting many here now that Wisconsin's winter has set in hard and early slowing things down enough around here that I can finally push out some more repair information soon.

Advanced Combat Rifle Repairing

A&K ACR Airsoft Gun
Many customers over at the airsoft service center keep asking us to do an article on repairing the ACR or Advanced Combat Rifle. In this article we will simply take a look at this particular airsoft gun model (A&K ACR), there are other airsoft gun companies who make this model, but I just happen to have this particular rifle on my bench. We will examine and discuss a few of the internal parts, plus discuss a bit about the ACR's external build and some of the qualities found in this replica. I have uploaded many airsoft gun repair photo's for this model, so be sure and use these as references.
Easy Strip Barrel Hub ACR Rifle
The ACR feature's a one piece, full metal upper receiver, that is extremely solid and precision machined with a one piece twist lock front barrel (easy field strip) design that makes hop up repair work in the field not only possible but simple! I found even after my field abuse for months the barrel or stock does not wobble or flex at all. The precision fit between the metal upper and the custom lower unit definitely lends a hand to the overall awesome stability of this rifle.

The hand grip or "lower receiver" is a one piece design that includes the mag well and trigger guard. The precision joining of these pieces as one, creates by far the strongest, hand grip I have seen on an airsoft gun to date. The ambidextrous selector switches feature an easy timing selection which makes gearbox removal and re-installation a breeze.

ACR Custom Rifle Selector Timing
Speaking of gear box removal, the ACR features a standard version two metal gear box. This means all standard upgrade parts ie; gears, bushings, air cylinder, motors and other internal parts, easily fit this model with the exception of the air nozzle and the selector plate which are model specific. I wrote a great airsoft gun cylinder repair guide on the version two which would pertain to this model as well.  The magazine release is ambidextrous and fits most standard airsoft gun model M4 magazines, I tried jg, ca, tm and agm and all fit the ACR nicely and had no feed issues.

All in all the ACR looks to be a top performer in the airsoft gun market. The first production models started showing up in 2011 but the US market did not see many until 2012. Rumors has it that Magpull Ind. already has some cool new additions for the 2013 ACR model airsoft guns.

Till next time,

Airsoft Gun DIY Service Guides

So, how many airsoft guns do you own? Do you target practice or skirmish with them? Chances are unless you just collect replica guns to decorate the man cave walls, you will need to perform at least some basic tune up procedures and eventually will need full blown repairs. So how does one go about servicing or repairing your airsoft guns you ask...

Well, for basic airsoft gun DIY service, all you need do is keep your guns clean and dry. If you target shoot or war game in the rain or even snow then you will need to completely dry your airsoft gun and magazines along with any accessories that may have been exposed to the elements. Be sure and remove all BB's from your magazines. Return hop up setting to 0 to prevent deformation of the rubber bucking during storage.  Most replica models include a barrel cleaning rod, use this with silicone oil (not petroleum based) to clean your barrel. Remove and charge your battery to help prolong cycle life.

So what to do when your guns need serious service, repair or upgrades? DIY. Don't know how...Learn. If you own more than one airsoft gun, the time will come when you will need repairs. The techs over at airsoft gun repair have been publishing step by step airsoft gun service manuals that can walk you through many troubleshooting, repair and or upgrading procedures for both gas and electric airsoft gun models. You may have to search for your particular model of airsoft gun, but most common designs are included in the airsoft gun troubleshooting guide.

Airsoft gun companies have started evolving the standard gearbox of several years back into a more refined and durable power plant by upgrading the internals and re-engineering the piston and electrical systems. Many airsoft models now include springs with easy adjust FPS features, MOSFET controls for electronic trigger, and  controlled burst fire, high speed, high torque and helical gears for almost any application. But just like your vehicle or any other mechanical device it will still be up to you to have at least, a basic understanding of how to fix and tune the airsoft guns you own.

Until next time
